Frequently Asked Questions

I understand that investing in a Life & Leadership Coach can bring up a lot of questions—especially when you’re juggling the demands of parenthood alongside your career or business. To help make this process easier, I’ve compiled a list of common questions that others have.

My aim is to support more people in finding a path toward improved well-being, both at work and at home. If you have a question that isn’t listed below, please feel free to email me directly at amyepcoaching@gmail.com.

I’ve never worked with a Life & Leadership Coach before, what should I expect?

Working with a Life & Leadership Coach is a unique investment in yourself—you will truly get out of it what you put in. Unlike training sessions or seminars, coaching sessions are customized to meet your unique needs. To make the most of our time together, it’s important that you are open and collaborative.

Preparing for Each Session:
For each coaching session, come with a specific goal or outcome in mind you would like to work on. While this may change as we explore together, having a starting point will guide our conversation. During our sessions, you can expect to:

  • Be Listened To: Coaching offers the opportunity to pause, reflect, and plan.
  • Brainstorm Options: We’ll explore effective ways to achieve your goals.
  • Have Your Perspective Challenged: You will deepen your understanding of different viewpoints, helping you to unblock obstacles and overcome challenges you may have faced previously.
  • Work with a Certified Coaching Professional: You will be guided by a coach with over 500 hours of experience in unlocking people’s potential and empowering them to excel, both professionally and personally. Clients have worked on various skills, such as time management, burnout prevention, and enhancing communication.

How can I set myself up for success with coaching?

To maximize your coaching experience, please arrive on time, prepared, and free from distractions.

To see a transformation, it’s essential to implement what we discuss between sessions. Our sessions hold more value when you actively engage and apply takeaways into your daily life. I will help align on actionable steps to prioritize during our meetings and, sometimes, I will share tools, resources, and exercises that will further support your journey.

Can you clarify what coaching is and what it isn’t?

According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), coaching is defined as, “partnering in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires a person to maximize their personal and professional potential. Coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity, and leadership”. Life coaching specifically helps you lead a more rewarding and fulfilling life.

Coaching is not mentorship.  Mentorship is wonderful and important, however, unlike mentorship, where you may be told, “This is how I accomplished…” coaching sessions are uniquely crafted to your life.  This supports you in accomplishing your goals regardless of if your mentors or role models have different lifestyles, responsibilities, opportunities/access, or support systems than you do.

Coaching is not therapy.  You will not be treated or diagnosed.  It’s not uncommon for someone to work with both a coach (on their future goals) and a therapist (to heal past traumas or treat a psychological condition) simultaneously.

Is working with a life coach a good investment?

Coaching is an investment in yourself. To evaluate if it’s worth it for you, assess your goals and reflect on whether achieving them justifies the investment. For my long-term clients, I encourage regular reflection on this question.

Consider the benefits of moving from:

  • Reactionary to proactive
  • Overwhelmed to well-balanced
  • Feeling defeated about time management to being clear on your goals and prioritizing what matters most
  • Hesitant to delegate or ask for help to surrounding yourself with support systems and resources that align with your goals and systematically work towards cultivating the life you envision.

How do I know if you are the right coach for me?

My heart-centered motivation style has helped many clients transition from stagnation and overthinking to achieving milestone victories foundational to their long-term success. I am certified as a Life & Leadership Coach and a Whole Person Certified Coach. I intentionally selected these programs because they prioritize creating a safe space for diverse backgrounds to be heard, understood, and truly seen. Each of my clients is worthy of stepping into their aspirational life, and I am honored to be a guide walking alongside them on this journey.

Each of these programs is accredited through the ICF where I am a member and engage in continuous education.

Since coaching is a unique commitment, I invite you to book a complimentary exploratory session using the link below. This will allow us both to determine if we’re a good fit for each other.
