KōKiri was set up in 2023 by Kiri McRae who is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation.
Kiri has a background in finance, marketing, and management across many sectors including transport and logistics, and primary industries.
A few years ago when reflecting on what her next career move might be she turned to coaching to help her in both her career and personal challenges. The experience was so enlightening that she started training to be a coach through the Coach Masters Academy and is now on the faculty supporting other coaches on their journey. She is currently working towards becoming a Master Certified Coach.
Through KōKiri, Kiri works with individuals and teams to help them unlock what they want to achieve and how they might start making a difference for themselves.
In te reo Māori Kōkiri means advocacy and championing. Kiri’s approach to coaching is to help you to back yourself.
About Kiri
Kiri (Ngāti Pū ki Hauraki, Ngāti Whakaue and Ngāi Te Rangi) was brought up in Tauranga and graduated from Waikato University with a Bachelor of Management Studies in 1989. She has enjoyed a varied career in the private and public sectors. She has held roles in finance, marketing, and management across many sectors including banking, local government, primary industries and transport and logistics.
Sparked by a desire for change, including being able to live and work in Tauranga close to her whanau, she started working with a coach.

What I loved about working with my coach was how she never advised me on where I should go, but walked beside me – carefully listening to what I was thinking and what I was feeling. She asked curious questions to help me understand myself, what patterns were affecting my thinking, what was fact compared to what was perception, and where my strengths lay.
“The affect on me was so profound that one of the changes I made was to start training to be a coach myself and several years later I am now proud to be a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation.
“Now I get an absolute buzz from helping others find their own sweet spot and take their next step with confidence, positivity and knowing that it is the right step for them.”
