My current professional interests are about the ability of humans to adapt to our ever-changing (VUCA) world.

Our work lives take up a very large part of our time on this earth, and we are sometimes not as intentional as we might be about how that time is spent. Everyone can benefit from spending some reflective time on their “work self” – by asking questions like “how present am I to myself and to others, during my work day?”

Our work lives also have an impact on the world, on our climate and environment. Which of our thoughts and actions are contributing to that impact? Is it an impact you’re proud to own? or are you avoiding owning it? Does your impact align with your values, or clash with them?

How are you preparing yourself and your work team, or your family, for the future? Recent climate and public health events might have helped you to pause and question this. All of our organisations, workplaces, families and institutions are adapting to work differently in the face of these changes. What skills will be needed for the future?

The World Economic Forum identified key skills needed in three main areas:

  • Relationships
  • Critical Thinking
  • Technology.
