Background
Experienced Leadership Course Director teaching first line supervisors core skills in Emotional Intelligence, Conflict Management, preferred Change Management Styles, the DiSC work style behavioral assessment, Situational Leadership, Difficult Conversation simulated practice, and a myriad of other leadership topics. I am certified in a variety of 360 instruments and as an International Coaching Federation, Associate Certified Leadership Coach, I am experienced in delivering feedback in a way that encourages self-reflection.
As a results driven professional, I have enjoyed a career spanning more than three decades demonstrating a strong blend of resource management, leadership acumen, employee development and collaboration, consistently resulting in the delivery of successful mission capabilities through creative financial solutions and leadership programs.
I enjoy teaching through story telling and tailor facilitation needs to an audience of any size by offering free consultations in advance to design and customize events to meet client needs. I am able to manage events effectively and as a member of the International Association of Facilitators (IAF), I adhere to the IAF code of Ethics and Core Competencies. Feel free to reach out if you want to discuss anything from one-hour facilitated meetings to week-long courses. I am also currently accepting Coaching Clients as an ICF Certified Coach.
I am a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM). A CGFM is a professional certification that validates expertise in public sector accounting, auditing, and budgeting. Volunteer Work that I am involved in the community include judging speech competitions for the Washington-Arlington Catholic Forensic League of high school students competing throughout the year in Interpretative and Public Address.
I also volunteer for the Junior Achievement (JA) Finance Park in Fairfax County. For background information, JA Finance Park volunteers help to guide small groups of middle-school students through a personal budgeting simulation – helping them understand their assigned family scenario and the budgeting process, and encouraging students as they then purchase items to meet the needs of their family, such as insurance, clothing, transportation, housing, groceries, and childcare—without spending more than they earn.
I also volunteer as the treasurer for the local high school football team as my son plays for the team and I help with the weekly team dinners that are held the evening before the weekly game, to provide a meal for the team and an opportunity for some fellowship and team building off the field.
For the last four years I was the treasurer for the high school music boosters program, until my my son graduated last summer and I passed the torch to another parent with a child in the music program. I helped with fundraising efforts for the music program, to promote the arts in school as I believe the music program fosters creativity, discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence while providing an outlet for stress relief in children and young adults.
