Rakel Baldursdottir

I am a 48-year-old, married to my Joe, and mother of two teenage boys. We live in a small community in Iceland and nature is at our doorsteps.  I love Coaching, following my clients toward their goals and seeing them make the most of their potential makes me so grateful. Sometimes I wish I had known about Coaching when I was a teenager but I try my best to give today’s teenagers access to this knowledge. Coaching is such a beautiful way to activate the individual for developing and empowering the person. Since I care a lot about humanity and nature I had great worry about the development of Climate change. I found very soon when I was studying Coaching how well it connected to the topic and I felt how well coaching was combined with climate change actions. I got in touch with Charly from Climate Change Coaches and took a course with her in 2019 which further confirmed my mind about the value of coaching in climate action

I am ACC certified coach by ICF, a certified NBI Practitioner, and a Whole Brain Coach. I am a Climate Change Coach and a board member of the ICF Iceland Charter Chapter. A member of Markþjálfahjartað (The Coaching Heart) works to improve coaching in the education system in Iceland. Founder of Markþjálfarjarðar (Coaching for Earth) in Iceland and a co-founder and CEO of Abzurd ehf.

My coaching is based on basic competence elements of Coaching, Science of well-being, Neuroscience, Art Therapy Life Coaching, and not least Climate Change Coaching. With these methodologies, I help clients examine their mindset, and understand how the mind works. help the client find their skills and talents. What works best and how to get there. Since Covid-19 all my sessions are held on Zoom.

Research, continuing education, receiving regular training, and participating in the coaching community have played a big part in my profession. Being involved and constantly learning new things and getting out of my comfort zone both professionally and personally has definitely led to success in my life, it’s also one of the things I encourage my clients to do. At the beginning of 2022, I was asked to write a case study for the book;  Climate Change Coaching the Power of Connection to Create Climate Action, by Charly Cox and Sarah Flynn, which I am very proud of having said yes to and I encourage you to read it, there is a lot of useful information about climate change coaching.

By using Coaching towards action in climate change the process can become both more fun and more effective. Therefore I love to be a Climate Change Coach and truly believe that this greatest project of mankind needs coaching as well.
