Coaching

Coaching is a process that uses evidence-based methods for personal development. It is a methodology designed to bring out the best qualities in people. Coaching is based on support, mutual trust, and a professional approach.

Coaching focuses on helping you discover where you want to go and what is preventing you from reaching your set goals. The coaching journey is straightforward, effective, and, not least, enjoyable. In short, coaching is about discovering and fully activating what lies within you. The focus is on working from the present toward the future and supporting you in tackling challenges and achieving success. Coaching is a collaboration where you engage in a creative and challenging process that encourages you to maximize your personal and professional potential.

Coaching is a goal-oriented and solution-focused process where the coach helps individuals identify possible solutions by asking questions and opening up new avenues. It assists in improving performance, achieving success, making more conscious decisions, and better utilizing one’s strengths. Research has shown that coaching can shortens the path to specific goals, helps set clearer objectives, and helps you figure out where you want to go. It can also help you identify the obstacles that prevent you from achieving your goals. The emphasis is on working from the present toward the future, supporting you in tackling challenges and achieving success.

Achieving goals faster and easier—who wouldn’t want that?

Many people want to see change and make an impact but often feel that their efforts are insignificant in the grand scheme of things. This is where coaching can help individuals move from passivity to action.

Coaching often enables people to see new solutions and even come up with new ideas, which can lead to a potentially transformative process. Most of us also want this journey to be enjoyable, increasing joy and happiness. Research on coaching, particularly with teachers, shows that coaching can have a preventative effect against burnout and anxiety. Individuals who receive coaching often handle new situations much more effectively.

With the help of questions and other “tools,” coaching provides insights into your thought patterns and behaviors, creating opportunities for you to make the changes you desire. You may choose not to change, but then that decision becomes a conscious choice, allowing you to live in harmony with your decision.

Coaching is neither therapy nor counseling. It is an effective method for achieving change. The work focuses on the present and looks toward the future. The past is only examined to understand your background. The coach’s role is to draw out the solutions that you already possess since you are the expert in your own life.

Your Role

It’s essential that you take yourself and your progress seriously to get the most out of the sessions. Part of this involves setting aside time before each session and reflecting on the following:

  • What goals do I want to work on with the coach?
  • What do I want to achieve from the session?
  • What are my biggest obstacles?

To maximize results, it’s beneficial to do some homework between sessions. Try to take half an hour before each session to reflect on how things have gone since the last time, how you’ve approached your goals, and what you’d like to focus on in the upcoming session. You are always in control of the journey.

Get yourself a journal and write down everything that comes to mind. It’s easier to keep track of your thoughts, experiences, and what you’re working on if you write them down. This also helps you monitor how things progress, how you overcome obstacles, and how you reach your goals.
