Positive Intelligence
Positive Intelligence (PQ) is the ability to recognize and shift the mental patterns that either support you—or quietly hold you back. We all have an inner dialogue made up of habits, assumptions, and reactions. Some of those serve us well, but many—what we call “saboteurs”—create doubt, stress, overthinking, or avoidance. In coaching, PQ helps bring awareness to those patterns so you can interrupt them in the moment and choose a more grounded, intentional response instead of an automatic one.
For clients, this becomes incredibly practical and empowering. Instead of getting stuck in cycles of self-criticism, perfectionism, or fear of making the wrong decision, you learn how to access a calmer, clearer part of your mind—what Positive Intelligence calls your “sage.” From that place, you think more creatively, respond more effectively, and move forward with greater confidence. It’s not about eliminating challenges; it’s about strengthening your capacity to handle them with resilience and clarity, so you can lead, decide, and live in a way that feels more aligned and sustainable.
Transitional Intelligence
Transitional Intelligence (TQ) is the ability to understand, navigate, and grow through change—both externally and internally. Most people focus on the external transition: the new role, the decision, the change in circumstance. What often goes unseen is the internal transition—the thoughts, emotions, identity shifts, and uncertainty that come with it. TQ brings awareness to that inner experience and helps you engage with it more intentionally, rather than pushing through or avoiding it.
In coaching, TQ becomes a powerful framework for making sense of where you are and what’s unfolding. You begin to recognize patterns in how you approach change, understand what might be holding you back, and learn how to move forward in a way that feels aligned and purposeful. Instead of feeling stuck or reactive, you develop the ability to pause, reflect, and respond with clarity. For clients, this means transitions become less overwhelming and more meaningful—an opportunity not just to move on, but to evolve into the next version of who you’re becoming. We work through Endings, The Messy Middle and Beginnings. We find the Flickers and create the Flame to move forward.
Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage your own emotions—while also being aware of and responsive to the emotions of others. It’s what allows you to pause instead of react, to communicate with intention, and to navigate relationships with greater clarity and effectiveness. In times of stress or change, EQ becomes especially important because it helps you stay grounded rather than overwhelmed, thoughtful rather than impulsive.
In coaching, emotional intelligence is woven into everything. It helps you better understand what’s driving your reactions, where you may be getting triggered, and how your emotions are influencing your decisions and interactions. As you strengthen your EQ, you become more self-aware, more adaptable, and more confident in how you show up—whether in leadership, relationships, or everyday life. For clients, this means not only making better decisions, but also building stronger connections, handling challenges with more ease, and leading in a way that feels both authentic and effective.
Strengths and Values
Strengths-based work, including tools like StrengthsQuest (SQ), focuses on identifying and leveraging what you naturally do best. Instead of spending energy trying to fix weaknesses, this approach helps you understand your innate talents and how they show up in your thinking, decision-making, and leadership style. When you become more aware of your strengths, you can use them more intentionally—leading to greater confidence, effectiveness, and a sense of ease in how you operate. It’s not about ignoring growth areas; it’s about building from a place of capability rather than deficiency.
Values assessment complements this by helping you clarify what truly matters to you at your core. Your values influence your choices, your priorities, and how fulfilled you feel in your work and life. When your actions are aligned with your values, things tend to feel clearer and more purposeful. When they’re not, you may experience frustration, confusion, or a sense of being off track. In coaching, combining strengths and values creates a powerful foundation—you not only understand how you’re wired to succeed, but also why it matters. This alignment allows you to make decisions, navigate transitions, and lead in a way that feels both authentic and sustainable.
