He is the co-author of *Christian Coaching Essentials*, *Christian Coaching Excellence*, and the *Coaching 101 Handbook*.
Gary is also hands-on involved in disciple making.
He has taught at multiple seminaries and graduate schools.
Gary and his wife, Gina, live in Southern California, enjoy mountain biking, and have two adult children.
Now that you know a little about Gary, let’s talk!
Gary became certified as a Harrison Assessment Coach in 2019. Since then, he has conducted more than 100 Harrison debriefs, giving him a deep appreciation for how valuable this tool can be. Gary has seen firsthand how effective it is for helping organizations identify the right people for the right roles—from prospective church planters and denominational executives to pastors.
Gary received the designation of Master Certified Coach (MCC) with the International Coaching Federation in 2018, after 12 years of coaching and more than 10,000 hours of coaching experience. One of the reasons he pursued certification was simple: he wanted to keep getting better and better. Another was to remind leaders that certification alone, while valuable, does not guarantee that leaders will seek you out as their coach.
Gary earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1992, with an emphasis in Church Growth. When most people hear “church growth,” they assume it’s simply about adding more people to grow their church, but he believes that couldn’t be further from the truth. At the roots of church growth is multiplication—multiplying disciples and churches to catalyze movements!
Here’s what one leader said about Gary’s coaching:
Gary’s expertise in coaching has allowed me to look beyond the obvious to find the best solutions to challenges I face in an ever changing world. I continue to recommend colleagues and friends to work with Gary and have seen them flourish in their spheres of influence through his coaching.
