The Journey of Unlocking Your Potential
Coaching is a tool based on the belief that individuals are creative, whole, and complete. It aims to increase awareness through questions and helps individuals maximize their potential in both their personal and professional lives.
Life is neither static nor flawless. Everyone experiences ups and downs at times, feels they deserve more than they’re getting, questions how to achieve better outcomes, or reacts emotionally to situations that may not affect others at all—feeling sadness, anger, or joy.
Coaching acts as a catalyst on the journey of self-awareness, helping individuals recognize the emotions and thoughts they experience in different situations and understand how these feelings and thoughts impact their lives and decisions.
Coaching is not about knowing all the answers; it’s about asking the right questions.
When Should You Work with a Coach?
- Goal Setting and Clarification: When you want to create a clear vision in areas such as career, lifestyle, or relationships.
- Performance Improvement: When you aim to fully utilize your potential and enhance your performance in both work and personal life.
- Decision-Making Processes: When you’re on the verge of an important decision and need different perspectives.
- Feeling Stuck: When you want to make changes in your life but don’t know where to start.
- Lack of Motivation: When you don’t feel motivated and need support to take action.
- Personal Development: When you want to discover your strengths and areas for growth and work on them, you can collaborate with a specialized coach.
What Does a Coach Do and Not Do?
- Asks Questions and Listens: A coach’s greatest strength lies in asking powerful questions to understand you and hearing not only what you say but also what you don’t say.
- Creates Awareness: Helps you recognize your potential, broaden your perspective, hold up a mirror for self-reflection, and start truly hearing yourself.
- Does Not Give Advice: A coach doesn’t tell you what to do or guide you; instead, they help you find your own path.
- Does Not Focus on the Past: The focus is on the present, not the past. Exploring the roots of problems, analyzing them, or resolving traumas falls under psychotherapy, not coaching.
- Does Not Aim to Teach: A coach is not a teacher or mentor sharing knowledge during sessions.
- Does Not Make Decisions for You: A coach encourages you to make your own decisions.
Coaching, Consulting, Mentoring, and Psychotherapy Are Different Concepts
A consultant is an expert in a specific field who provides you with information, advice, and solutions. A coach, on the other hand, supports you in finding your own solutions and does not transfer knowledge.
A mentor is someone who guides you by sharing their experiences and tells you how to do things. A coach, however, does not share their own experiences but focuses on helping you find your own path.
A psychologist/psychotherapist focuses on diagnosing and treating past traumas, emotional issues, and psychological disorders. A coach, on the other hand, focuses on the future, accepting the individual as whole and complete.
