Coaching Sessions

Every client relation begins with a discovery call where coach and client meet and explain expectations and the practical arrangements for future coaching sessions at high level. Depending on the individual objectives of the client, we chose the most appropriate package to achieve the transformation in the most effective and efficient way. The discovery call is always free of charge and if an agreement is reached, the client relation begins after this.

In the next session, we’ll focus on all aspects of creating the coaching container to lay a strong foundation for the work we will do in the rest of the coaching period.

We address:

  • Purpose: Why the coaching relationship exists and what the client wants to achieve.
  • Trust and psychological safety: Creating a space where the client feels comfortable being open and honest.
  • Boundaries: Clarifying roles, expectations, confidentiality, and ethical guidelines.
  • Process and logistics: Agreeing on session frequency, duration, communication methods, and goals.
  • Accountability: Defining how progress will be reviewed and how commitments will be tracked.

The elements of the coaching container are documented in the coaching contract, which is signed by both parties and kept on record by the coach as per the ICF requirements.

At all times, the client is at the centre of the partnership. They decide what to work on, where to go next and how to transform their learnings into sustainable growth.
If a larger goal is set and something unexpected happens, with the client’s permission, we revisit the coaching container and adapt to their needs with flexibility to ensure their highest priority is addressed and mental space becomes available to allow for sustainable growth.

Expectations

As your coach, I will provide objective feedback, thoughtful challenge, and powerful questions to help you achieve your goals. Your role is to be open to the process, fully present, honest in our conversations, and accountable for the commitments you make.

As an aspiring accredited coach, I adhere to the ICF code of ethics, which protects the privacy of my clients, and therefore the contents of our coaching discussions are confidential. Where a third party has requested the coaching, e.g. as part of an organisation-sponsored assignment, I will agree with you on the best way to keep any interested third parties involved or updated.

As part of the ICF’s requirements for further accreditation, I am required to keep a coaching log. The coaching log is a journal of all the clients I have coached. The log contains the hours spent with each client, the duration of the coaching programme and a record of the client’s name and email details.

As the coaching profession is young and keeps evolving with increasing insights in neuroscience and other fields, ICF coaches commit to being on a continuous learning journey. If it is necessary to record coaching and feedback sessions for my own training purposes, I will seek your consent to do this.
