Synerjen Coaching has been created as a step in fulfilling my wish that we may all live with greater ease. This idea grew out of the “live with ease” component of a loving kindness meditation (provided below). The initial aim was to help people build the awareness and capacities they need to navigate stress and emotions with greater ease. As I have listened to feedback from my clients, they have shared that our work together is especially valuable during life transitions, when stress and emotions tend to intensify. This feedback has prompted me to augment my coach training to become a Certified Professional Retirement Coach. This meditation continues with a focus on loved ones being safe, happy, healthy and living with ease, next on those we dislike being safe, happy, healthy and living with ease, followed by all people being safe, happy, healthy and living with ease, and lastly on all living beings safe, happy, healthy and living with ease.

Ease Up On Stress

Living with ease with regard to stress starts with being stress literate, that is, knowing about stress and stressors, being able to identify stress within your experience, and learning and applying tools and techniques to lessen or eliminate the impact of stress. As a former academic Librarian, I have research skills and use them to comb through countless books, articles, and studies about stress and stressors. I synthesize this learning into the programs about stress. Offerings are delivered by Zoom and include one on one work, the Ease Up on Stress program, and abbreviated version of this program called the Process Your Stress Group Coaching Program. In person I have delivered a retreat called Stress Awareness & Management based on the Ease Up on Stress program and a workshop called Countering Negativity designed to address the negativity bias which can cloud our perceptions and contribute to our experience of stress. Ease Up On Emotions

The work of better emotional management begins with becoming educated about our emotions. To do this we develop an understanding of core emotions, identify how we perceive them, learn what blocks our experience of them, and how we can use tools and techniques to work through them. The material I rely upon for this in both my personal and professional life is the work of certified psychoanalyst and author Hilary Jacobs Hendel. Her model involves becoming knowledgeable about seven core emotions and working within a “change triangle” framework for processing them. I have been authorized to facilitate her Emotions Education 101 program since 2024. Her framework has been of great benefit to me and my coaching clients.

Ease Into Retirement

To be clear, financial aspects of retirement are best addressed by financial professionals. My work as a coach centers around the idea that we can each make a graceful transition from being a worker to being a retiree. Our time together will addresses the mental, social, physical, and spiritual components of retirement which can prove challenging for many people. The bulk of my knowledge about retirement coaching came from Robert Laura, an expert in the field. While retirement coaching is designed to aid in the transition into retirement, it introduced me to the idea that I am not only retiring “to” a brand new lifestyle but also fortifying my current life so that I will retire “with” parts of my retirement lifestyle already in place.
